Dr. Francesco Olimpico, graduating from the University of Naples “Federico II” and holding a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Management, has dedicated his career to exploring scientific challenges in biotechnology and nanotechnology. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with academic institutions such as the University of Naples, CNR, and the Scuola Normale Superiore, contributing to various research projects on HIV, glioblastoma, and diabetes, with a strong focus on biochemistry and molecular biology.
His experience also spans into the industrial sector, where he has had a significant impact working for companies such as Technobiochip, ProteoGen Bio, and GlaxoSmithKline. Here, he contributed to the development of innovative sensors and bioreactors for clinical and research applications, joining to different Italian and European research projects.
Since July 2019, Dr. Olimpico has been part of FPS. . In 2020, he was awarded a seed Grant for his work on Lateral Flow Assays. He currently collaborates with Dr. Andrea Ghelli on the FPS Grant 2022 project, which aims at understanding the role of DNA damage response in the development of chemoresistance and evaluate new therapeutic strategies to overcome it. Simultaneously, he is involved in the FPS Roberto Revoltella Grant in Oncology 2024 project in collaboration with Dr. Stefano Mariani, focused on the development of fluorescent Lateral Flow assays for detecting and quantifying biomarkers associated with Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
