Oncohematology Unit
The Oncohematology Unit is dedicated to translational research focused on adult acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). The primary objective of the Unit is to elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying chemoresistance, with a particular emphasis on how leukemic cells detect, respond to, and repair DNA damage. By integrating advanced molecular biology techniques, functional genomics, and drug screening approaches, we aim to uncover new vulnerabilities in resistant leukemia cells. From a translational standpoint, our goal is to identify and develop innovative pharmacological strategies capable of overcoming resistance to conventional and targeted therapies. Our experimental approach exploits the use of 3D models, nanoparticles and innovative drug combinations to overcome chemoresistance in acute leukemia patients.
