Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is often diagnosed at advanced stages, limiting treatment options and survival rates. Unlike other major cancers, no population-wide screening programs exist for PDAC, making early detection a critical but elusive goal. However, individuals in high-risk groups may benefit from targeted screening or surveillance. In this study, we examine recent advancements in identifying high-risk populations and implementing biomarker-driven detection strategies for PDAC. We review current approaches to biomarker development, the role of artificial intelligence in analyzing electronic health records (EHRs) and social media, and the cost-effectiveness of these strategies.
