Worldwide, breast cancer is the most invasive cancer in women. It includes 22.9% of invasive cancers in women and 16% of all female cancers. The disease affects almost exclusively women, but sometimes men too. Breast cancer is a potentially serious disease if not detected and treated early. The projects that we have developed and that are underway are:

Better diagnosis and prognosis/ Treatment tailoring

Project “The panta rhei of breast cancer: whole gene expression timeline analysis during progression of microinvasive breast cancer microenvironment”
FPS people involved: Francesca Lessi, Chiara M Mazzanti, Sara Franceschi, Paolo Aretini, Michele Menicagli.
External collaborators: Cristian Scatena (U.O. Anatomia Patologica, AOUP), Giuseppe A Naccarato (U.O. Anatomia Patologica, AOUP).

Project “Molecular profiling of G1 metastatic breast cancers”
FPS people involved: Claudia Scopelliti, Chiara M Mazzanti, Francesca Lessi, Paolo Aretini, Sara Franceschi, Michele Menicagli.
External collaborators: Cristian Scatena (U.O. Anatomia Patologica AOUP), Andrea Fontana (U.O. Oncologia AOUP), Giuseppe A Naccarato (U.O. Anatomia Patologica AOUP).

Treatment tailoring

Project “Whole exome analysis of HER-2 positive human breast cancers: molecular mechanisms underlying response to neoadjuvant therapy with Trastuzumab”
FPS people involved: Marco La Ferla, Chiara M Mazzanti, Paolo Aretini, Michele Menicagli, Francesca Lessi, Sara Franceschi, Liam McDonnell, Marialaura Di Lillo, Davide Pellegrino.
External collaborators: Andrea Fontana (U.O. Oncologia AOUP), Cristian Scatena (U.O. Anatomia Patologica AOUP), Giuseppe Naccarato (U.O. Anatomia Patologica AOUP).
